Harrisonburg City Council approves Right-of-way Plans for the Reservoir Street Improvement Project

On August 24, 2010 City Council approved the right of way plans for the Reservoir Street Improvement Project. This approval came after many months of working with property owners and utility companies to coordinate property access points and placement of utilities which will be impacted by the new Reservoir Street design. Brad Reed, the transportation planner for the city of Harrisonburg, says Reservoir Street is the corridor that concerns him most. "It's a small road, and now we see a major arterial roadway with tons of development, many developments that are coming in the future, so that's something that really needs to be planned for and we're hopefully trying to get ahead of that and see what we can do in the near future to resolve that issue," says Reed.

Approval of the right of way plans will now allow the process to move forward to development of the final construction plans beginning in early 2011 pending City approval.
